Katherine Daniel
I am honored to be the Head Director of Elkins Theatre Company. Our students continue to inspire me with their immense talent, dedication, and support for each other. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a B.F.A in Theatre and a minor in Secondary Education and am currently working on my Masters from The University of Houston in Theatre Education. Theatre is my first love and being able to inspire the next generation of theatre artists brings me great joy. I believe that in a theatre education we are not just teaching theatre skills, but skills students will need for the rest of their lives such as collaboration, analysis, creative problem solving, critical thinking, public speaking, and thought articulation. I believe theatre has the ability to make us better humans than we could ever be without it. When I am not working hard for Elkins Theatre Company, I am busy working on outside creative projects that I am a part of and spending time with my family.
Head Director
Mr. Kalich was born in Houston, Texas, where he decided (as a baby) to settle down. He was a great and talented baby. At three years old, he was declared the official class clown after dancing on a table after being put in time out, which was enjoyed by everyone except an angry teacher. Mr. Kalich went on making teachers mad at Bellaire High School, and later added professors to this list at the University of Texas, where he studied acting, directing, and playwriting. After spending a few years in New York City as a professional unemployed actor, he returned to his hometown to become a theatre teacher. He loves teaching students, mostly about theatre, but especially his methods for making teachers upset. Eventually, Mr. Kalich got older but he still remains a kid at heart. He’s excited to create amazing theatre at Elkins Theatre Company and can’t wait to continue the company’s traditions and legacies.
